Resort Quality Sleep for Your Holiday Guests…Without Breaking the Bank!

by BrandSource Canada

Every year families everywhere prepare their homes for a flurry of parties, dinners and family gatherings. The holidays don't only mean merriment and cheer; they also mean house guests. Whether it is the in-laws or close friends, your guests deserve to be as comfortable in your home as they are in their own. Any good host would agree! So what exactly is the first step to creating that welcoming atmosphere? Assuring that your guests have the best sleep possible. Although the sound of dollar signs might be ringing in your ears, you can rest easy knowing that it is possible for your guests to sleep just as well as they would in a hotel…without emptying your pocket book.

Comfort is Key

While you may not be the one sleeping in the guest room, that shouldn't be an excuse to ignore the comfort level of the mattress. Not wanting to spend an arm and a leg, on the other hand, is entirely reasonable.

Memory Foam mattresses are often the best solutions. Inexpensively priced yet luxurious in feeling, how can one go wrong? Memory Foam mattresses may be made of either one thick layer of foam or several layers. Those made of multiple layers are generally known to be more comfortable but both types would work equally as well for a guest room.

Pillow top mattresses offer extreme comfort at an unbelievable price. An option such as this would also leave you with extra funds which could be used towards purchasing new sheets or possibly a new duvet. All key elements in creating that hotel feeling.

Another great option for the guest room - save space and money by choosing a double sized mattress instead of a queen. Double (or full sized mattresses) are now slightly less common due to the growth in popularity of the queen sized mattress. They can therefore often be found at affordable prices. Better yet, since the guest room is typically one of the smaller rooms in your home, this type of mattress will take up less space. Your guests will be left with plenty of room for their luggage and to move about comfortably without bumping into the edges of the bed.

Plush pillows

The costs of the holidays can quickly add up and between food and gifts, you may not be able to invest in a new guest room mattress. Still, there are other ways to spruce up the bed and comfort level of the room.

Start by adding new pillows. Nothing is more uncomfortable for a guest than being unhappy with their pillow, especially if they plan to stay longer than one night. A variety of pillows will allow guests to choose which thickness they prefer and stacking them in a row will make sitting up in bed with a good book simple and comfortable. Finally, add a plush duvet and some high thread-count sheets. Your guests will be so comfortable they won't want to leave their bed! Complete the room with fresh flowers and a delicious smelling candle on the nightstand and the comfort, hotel style overhaul is complete!
